There are a wide range of piercings available to choose from, especially on your ears - however the cartilage piercing remains one of the most popular spots to have pierced, and has a truly wide range of jewellery available to wear in a cartilage piercing.
A cartilage piercing, is typically a helix piercing located on the outer rim of the ear. This type of piercing can typically take a little longer to heal but will offer you a wider choice of locations for the piercing. If you're looking for a little piercing inspiration then places like Instagram and Pinterest can be excellent sources of cartilage piercing imagery.
As we have mentioned previously, cartilage piercings can take a while to heal - typically six to twelves to fully heal. This is due to this area of the ear having lower blood flow, compared to lobes for instance - which will typically heal in three to six months. Healing time can also be influenced by how well the piercing is looked after - remember to keep it clean!
We really do recommend investing in some piercing aftercare - we recommend cleaning the area twice daily with a saline solution, which you can usually find at a pharmacy (or your piercer may give you some when you have your piercing done).
Don't rush out to change your cartilage jewellery - we know it can be tempting to get something a bit more extravagant however we always advise keeping the original stud in until your piercing has fully healed. Cartilage piercings are slow to heal, and by changing the jewellery before it has fully healed you may run the risk of it not healing correctly, an infection, or the piercing rejecting the new jewellery entirely.
If you are a side sleeper then you may find sleeping with a new cartilage piercing a little tricky initially. You may have seen the memes about sleeping on a fresh piercing online - however the struggle is real. Try to avoid sleeping on a healing piercing as it may end up causing irritation, or even an infection.
You can have multiple cartilage piercings at once, if that's your style. This will allow you to build that perfect earring stack - however we recommend only having one ear pierced at a time (think back to the side sleeping issue).
Now for the fun part - choosing the jewellery. Well, you're in luck here as the cartilage piercing is a versatile one, which will suit pretty much anything you want to put in it. We have a wide range of flat back studs, threaded studs, chain linked studs, captive rings, bendable hoops and even barbells that will work with a cartilage piercing - let your imagination run wild! ]]>
There are several types of metal used for body jewellery manufacturing – however not all may be suitable for you. The wrong type of metal may cause you to have a reaction – or skin irritation. The main culprit for skin irritation would be nickel.
The most common type of metal used for body jewellery is surgical grade steel. Here at Cherry Diva we used 316L surgical grade steel for many of our body jewels. The 316L number denotes the low carbon version of the steel.
We do this for two reasons – the first being that surgical grade steel is generally suitable for most people’s piercings, it has a low risk for reactions and tolerates water well. The second reason is that surgical grade steel is relatively cheap – which helps us keep the cost of jewellery low.
Surgical grade steel is also not complete nickel free – it does generally contain around 8% - 12% nickel content so if you have an allergy to nickel it may be advisable to wear titanium jewellery.
If you are hypersensitive, we would usually advise you to opt for titanium jewellery. Titanium is a strong as steel but lighter – it does not corrode nor tarnish, nor react to saltwater or body chemistry. It can also be coloured – or anodized to produce all kinds of vibrant colours. The downside to Titanium jewellery is that its generally more expensive to produce.
]]>You’ve seen some major ring goal inspo on Facebook, Instagram and pretty much every where around the web. Whilst most of the insta snaps you see on our feed may not always be practical, you can certainly achieve a glowing bohemian vibe with just a few stacking rings suitable for ever day wear.
So, where do you start? Firstly, which stone catchers your eye? The magical rainbow moonstone, shimmering fire opal or maybe gorgeous deep red garnet. You can always mix and match, we find that onyx can really compliment a wide range of stone and also looks great on its own – with our hundreds of designs why not mix and match and create a fresh new ring stack for every day of the week?
Once you have decided on your stone the fun really begins – you get to choose the awesome treasures that have caught your eye. Go big and bold or dainty and delicate – the choice is yours, we believe you really can create any look you want by just swapping over a few pieces.
We usually like to start out with three key pieces, one for each finger, either gemstone or a pretty plain silver ring with a cute design such as our delicate sterling silver Lotus Flower ring. If you’re looking to make a statement pick up a larger ring such as our rainbow moonstone Drew.
If you’re unsure about size don’t worry, we’ve created a handy size chart and printable PDF ring sizer for you to use at home.
Now do you stop there or go all out with some cute ass midi rings? We personally love the look of midi rings and really think that they create an edgy boho vibe. You can add one or several depending on the look you’re going for and what you’re going to be comfortable wearing.
Now you’re well on your way to creating you’re very own custom stack you can swap and change out at any time to suit your mood, style and season.

]]>Going for a chunky statement necklace can really transform an outfit and take it from blah to chic and bold without breaking the bank. Cherry Diva's chunky range of necklaces are available in a wide range of colours, styles and shapes, so finding the perfect chunky necklace for that fab night out is a piece of cake.
As a rule we say only wear a patterned or multi coloured necklace with a plain top or dress, as you don't want your beautiful statement necklace to be lost against the patterns and colours of the clothing and doesn't make your outfit look too busy.
Match the materials to the outfit. This means if you're looking for something to suit that elegant evening dress, choose crystal or glass as it will give the outfit a more elegant feel, if you're going casual try a tribal design or beaded jewels. If you're rocking a simple summer dress a floral style necklace can give you those bold summer vibes.
Choose the necklace for the occasion. Not all necklaces suit every situation so take a step back and think when you will wear the necklace, what type of outfit you will match it will and the time of year (a yellow floral necklace at Christmas could look a little out of place..) A chunky chic necklace under a shirt collar will give an understated vibe at the office, a bold metallic piece would really suit that little black dress and a tribal beaded design works will with every day casual.
When wearing a bib necklace, wear it over the neckline of a top or dress to create a unique look. Alternatively, wear it an inch or two higher than the neckline to avoid the need to adjust it throughout the day, and to create a clear line between the two.
It's best not to team a chunky necklace with other chunky pieces, as it can make an outfit look too busy
Keep your body shape in mind, if you've got a shorter neck a short chunky necklace can make you look bulky, a longer necklace can make you look more slender.

]]>With our brand new range of Druzy jewellery we've decided to give you a little bit of information about this wonderful, versatile stone and it's origins.
Druzy is the glittering effect of tiny crystals over top a colourful mineral. It is beautiful when used in making jewellery. One of the perks to druzy stones is that they are not as expensive as big faceted gemstones and they have sparkle and great colour and it can be cut into various shapes with ease. The druzy quartz gems grow slowly over millions of years and are found as the very last layer of growth on agate or another colourful base. It does not always refer to quartz, druzy is any kind of mineral found in a plate-like form, such asgarnets, calcite, dolomite and malachite. Common colours are white, yellow, brown, red, and orange. Druzy style beads are great for centrepieces in pendants. While they look sparkly and delicate, druzy quartz is a fairly durable gem.

Druzy quartz is made up of many tiny crystals and it has a velvety and soft appearance to it. There can be large formed crystals or many medium crystals with the formation. Treated colorful crystals are sometimes coated with a film of gold, platinum, sterling silver, or titanium. When the Druzy has titanium on it, this adds cobalt, purple, or various rainbow colors. Agates are also easy to dye, so many different shades of backgrounds for the druzy can be made.
There are various sizes in this type of crystal therе can be very tiny pieces or larger pieces which might be used as display items. The crystals must be cut very carefully as it is easily damaged. The crystal is usually cut fee form to accentuate the beauty of the crystals. In the case of most common quartz material, it is found on the last stages of growth in an agate geode, so pieces are chopped out of the centers of geodes. Some druzy pieces, like garnets, are found as interlocking crystal plates, when found on matrix, they already have a backing, the lapidary artist simply needs to cut out the form and trim off the background matrix to form the cabochon. Vuggy carbonate clusters are often found to have desirable traits, such as the beautiful druzy quartz over sky blue chrysocolla from Peru or the blocks of bright pink calcite from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The main reason its popular is that is a very inexpensive material to work with and it can make very nice pieces which make it seem like it’s an expensive gem when it is in fact not expensive at all. You can get good Druzy crystals at many mineral and rock shows for much lower prices than other stones. It all depends on the color and size of the stones but you can get a lot of value for your spending budget. Most of the commercial Druzy quartz comes from Brazil.

We've all seen the rise of Bohemian Jewellery, the wild, eccentric style has really taken off in the last year, and one of the things that has risen from this trend is the popularity of Hamsa Hand jewellery.

Hamsa is the hand of Prophet Muhammad's daughter Fatima. It is the symbol of patience, loyalty, faith and resistance against difficulties. According to common belief, it tells of the Fatima's struggle for dignity and her tough life. Thereby, purity, goodness and truth are blessed. For centuries, Fatima’s Hand has been a powerful talisman for good luck and one of the most popular amulets in the world of Islam for protection.
There we have it, the Hamsa Hand is for protection, good luck and ward off the evil eye (which you may also find in Hamsa Hand jewellery)

]]>Well, we're here to help and hopefully answer all of your questions right here with our comprehensive guide to jewellery.
What is alloy jewellery?
Some of the metals that are used to make an alloy are nickel, pewter, and copper. In fact, the act of mixing some of these metals is how jewellers came up with metals like white gold, rose gold, blue gold, and sterling silver.
Is alloy jewellery nickel free?
As above, alloy is a mix of metals that jewellers came up with to create different colours and shades of metals, therefore if you have an allergy to nickel, we would advise steering clear of alloy jewellery, as not all alloys composed of the same metals and therefore could cause irritation, however most alloys are made from copper, which in itself is nickel free.
What types of jewellery are nickel free?
Look for jewellery made from such metals as nickel-free stainless steel, surgical-grade stainless steel, titanium, 18-carat yellow gold, or nickel-free 14-carat yellow gold, sterling silver, copper and platinum.
Will Sterling Silver affect my nickel allergy?
It is unlikely, but take care. Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver alloyed with copper, however a small amount of other metals may be present in the mix, which could cause an irritation.
Buying jewellery that will not irritate my skin.
Simply use the search bar on our website and type in nickel free, or the type of metal you desire eg; Sterling Silver.
We hope this helps, if you have any further questions you would like the answer to, or you would like any further details drop us a message on Twitter or Facebook, or email us at info@cherrydiva.co.uk

The first thing you need to do is determine your face shape. We've found the best way of doing this is to take a picture of your face and compare it to the image above, there you should be able to see which of our examples resembles your face shape the most.
Now that you've got a face shape, read on - here comes the style tips.
A square face usually means a strong jaw and forehead, the aim here is to soften the angles and make the face look longer. For this you should look towards oversized curvy styles, or once again the ever classic aviator. If you have strong features we say the bigger the better - choose a curvy style for a feminine look, or go girly with butterfly rims. Remember, go oversized and glamorous.
A pointed chin, high cheek bones and wide forehead call for a more quirky, retro style. Cat eyed frames are a great feminine choice, but for the ultra girly look we think butterfly rims are the ultimate choice.
With a round face comes a soft shape. You want to go for definition here to slim the cheeks so pick a frame with a rim which is wider than your face. Soft but angular styles will pull your temple higher, lengthening your face and breaking up the roundness. Go for a square or angular frames - avoid rounded frames that will make your face look bigger.
An oval face with a rounded forehead is the shape everyone looks to, so count yourself lucky as any style will work here. You can really go all out here and go for the latests trends. You can't go wrong however with larger frames, they will accentuate your cheekbones and give a slimming look - anything to small will squash your face.
Looking forward to your next summer holiday? Jetting to a far away location can be super exciting, but the packing before hand can always cause a headache, but we've got five simple tips that may make your pre holiday packing a little less frustrating.
]]>
Looking forward to your next summer holiday? Jetting to a far away location can be super exciting, but the packing before hand can always cause a headache, but we've got five simple tips that may make your pre holiday packing a little less frustrating.
Tip 1 - Roll it, don't fold it.
Who really wants to iron whilst on holiday? You can spend that time flat out on a sun bead, taking a dip in the pool or enjoying a poolside tipple. Save on the holiday ironing by simply neatly rolling your clothing up. Not only will it arrive with less creases, but it will also take up less space in your case. Make sure everything is flat before you start rolling and go from top to bottom, waist band to ankle.
Tip 2 - Towels keep stuff safe.
If you're planning on taking some fabulous jewellery, electrical items, or even perfume we always roll our delicate items inside a towel and then place that in the middle of the case - that way you're giving your delicate items the most protection from bumps and smashes - we've all seen that guy throwing suitcases around at the airport.
Tip 3 - Take an organised approach.
Before packing anything, decide on what you actually want to take, or better yet what you need. This way, you can systemically pack your suitcase. This will not only save space, but will allow you to find everything much easier than if you just throw everything inside - remember tip 1 - we don't want creased up clothing!
Tip 4 - Plan what you want to wear.
Have you come home from a holiday and unpacked a heap of clothing that you didn't wear? Yep, us too. With a little pre-holiday planning you can pick your outfits before you leave, that way you will only be taking what you actually need. Do we really need to take 7 pairs of high heels with us? Not likely, so plan in advance, and save on space, weight, and the inevitable nightmare of having too much weight in your case for the trip home.
Tip 5 - Don't max out your weight limit.
This ties in with tip 4, but we've all been there. We're allowed 20KG of luggage on the plane. We load up our suitcase with 19.7KG of clothing, shoes and toiletries and away we go. The problem here is when it's time to come home. You've done a bit of shopping, raided duty free and loaded up on gifts for loved ones back home - now where do we put it all? Yep, that leads to us desperately throwing away clothes, shoes and sun creams in an attempt to make weight. Plan what you need to take before you pack and try to leave 1KG of weight spare for the trip home. That way, there will be no last minute panic at the hotel or airport.
So there we have it, our top five tips for holiday packing - We've made the mistakes, let's hope you can learn from us :)
Have a wonderful holiday ladies x
